Youth

“The Borderers” started in 2003 – 2004 as an amalgamated side with the majority of players coming from Chepstow and Caldicot. During this season they did not enter any leagues and just played a few friendly games.

In the 2004–2005 season, they joined the bottom division in the Dragons region. They were duly placed in Dragons Division "DE", in that spell they only lost one league game and were crowned champions on the last day of the season, which meant promotion to division "DD".

In the 2005-2006 season, they had some more success by coming runners-up in their league which meant promotion in successive seasons, they also went on tour to Holland to enter an International Youth Tournament which they won by beating all of the other entrants in head-to-head games. At the end of the season, Caldicot decided to leave to form a Caldicot Youth team.

In the 2006–2007 season, they took promotion to Dragons "DB" this means they have moved up to division 2 of the 7 divisions in the Gwent Region in just 2 full seasons. They had a great season finishing 3rd in their division.

We have an excellent coaching team headed by Richard Goodey who in his own rugby career has played for Wales, The Barbarians and Crawshays and has also played for and captained both Pontypool and Newport.
